I know this is buggy right now (I'm not happy with the positioning of the login box and the error messages need to be positioned better) but it's something to try out and see if you like.
Working GDM theme available as a tar.gz via the download link.
after all the redhat times are "gone" and it seems that (mostly, ubuntu being one exception) everyone is sticking to blue for the artwork... anyway, the thing is quite cool, but in my opinion it's gdm itself that needs some _drastic_ revision.
the other ones are cool, especially [link]
debian is silently trying to catch up with these things ( discussion has started months ago and it seems somebody is taking some care )
oooo - nice scheme; minimalist, dark, and with a professional leaning...
Did you get inspiration the idea for the way the dna is designed from somewhere? or was it just something that you came up with for this login? I really like it
ubuntu's default is browns and oranges, however, you can change it to whatever you want (infact, i think there are 10+ themes bundled) - it's just gnome ( [link] )
i'm talking about the "distribution", the main colour is brown (whereas debian's is red, suse's is green, and so on). any distribution has its "colour", if we talk about "themes", well, that's not the identity of a dist itself, otherwise we could agree with the fact that the "server" ubuntu setup's main colour is black because it's x11-less.
and the 10+ themes bundled are inside the gnome-themes/gtk2-engines* packages which are upstream gnome sources.
I acutally got a question about where the DNA idea came from in the Fedora forums; I think reading my reply will give you a good idea: [link]ostcount=49
If you look at the early mockups, you'll see I was just trying to create objects out of pieces of the Fedora logo and got the idea to create DNA. As to how I rendered the final DNA strands - I basically made one 'over' curved piece and one 'under' curved piece , pieced them together, and copy/pasted them tweaking them along the way to make the full strand. If you grab the download and open up the SVG you'll see what I mean.
well, yes; the ubuntu colour is brown.. I'm not sure how this conversation referred to distro identities; my point was that gnome is gnome, gdm is gdm, kde is kde; ultimately you are free to choose how to theme those.
Honestly; I'm not a fan of the blue scemes on most distros now.. I understand the psycology behind it, but I got sick of it after windows.. The real problem is that noone will ever agree, and hardly anyone will be happy with the same colour forever
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

i don't know, i tried making some green backgrounds and got some very violent reactions to it!
maybe one of the leaves (edubuntu? xubuntu?) is green though.
